Tuesdays & Thursdays
Guided Historical & Architectural Tour
On our popular architectural and historical tour, we’ll head east to the Buford Tower and back. At four miles roundtrip, the tour focuses on the fascinating history of Austin, and touches on the beautiful architecture that helps make this city so vibrant and unique. Guides will talk about the last 3-400 years of history on this stretch of the Colorado, and the buildings and landmarks that we paddle past will serve as signposts on this historic journey. Your guide will help put the bridges, buildings and the greater skyline in context, and also connect the dots from a time when indigenous peoples established villages along the river...through the embattled birth of a capital city...all the way to the tech-fueled period of dramatic growth that we are witnessing today.
Please note, depending on your group’s pace and which buildings are of interest, the length and distance of your tour can vary.
