CELEBRATE EARTH WEEK WITH US!

Join us on Friday, April 24, 2026 for our fifth annual community wide Earth Day clean up and fundraiser along Lady Bird Lake! Volunteers will have the option to launch from one of three locations: Rowing Dock (West end), Epic SUP (East end), and on the trail at Auditorium Shores. From there, you'll select whether you would like to pick up trash by boat or by walking trails along the river. This event is free for all community volunteers, with advance registration required.

There is a small participation fee of $15/person required for corporate teams. All funds raised from this event will go to The Trail Conservancy, the local nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting, enhancing, and connecting the Ann & Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail for the benefit of all. More info on participation fee.

The average Texan produces 1,788 pounds of trash a year (4.9 lbs/day)

Austin has been the nation's fastest growing metro area for the past decade + has seen a significant increase in tourism

As more people flock to enjoy our outdoor spaces throughout the city, public trash can overflow & litter inevitably increases

Rain and wind often carries litter into storm drains, streams, canals, and rivers

With 60% of water pollution attributed to litter, these factors all contribute to the health of Austin's rivers and lakes

Corporate Group Participation: $15/Person

To ensure all community members are able to participate in Earth Day, all corporate/company groups are asked to pay a $15/attendee participation fee to The Trail Conservancy. Payment will be taken at registration. Reservations for this event are non-refundable. Decreases to headcount cannot be made after your reservation is booked. Event FAQ

Why do you charge a $15/person fee for corporate groups?

This event is not only a large-scale community volunteer effort—it’s also a fundraiser. All proceeds directly support our mission to preserve, enhance, and protect the Trail year-round.Hosting almost 2,000 volunteers involves significant costs: permitting, staffing, supplies, safety gear, free t-shirts, food, and drinks for all participants. It also includes the time and effort of our full-time team members, who spend months planning, coordinating, and executing this event behind the scenes. To keep this event free and accessible for individual community members, we ask corporate groups—who often attend as part of team-building or employee engagement efforts—to contribute through this modest fee.Corporate support plays a key role in helping us scale the impact of this event — every contribution ensures we can care for more of the Trail, welcome more community members, and build a shared sense of stewardship for our Austin’s most beloved outdoor spaces. Please reach out to development@thetrailconservancy.org if you have any questions. We appreciate your understanding and support, and we hope to see your team out there making a difference—whether it’s on Earth Day or at another time!

Is there an age minimum for this event?

We recommend younger children are accompanied by their parent/legal guardian. Children under the age of 18 will have to have their parent or legal guardian sign their waiver. This event is for children 6 years and up.

What will be provided to volunteers?

All volunteers will be provided with all the supplies required to clean up (trash bags, grabbers, gloves). For volunteers that are paddling, you will be provided with a kayak, SUP, or canoe, in addition to a life jacket and paddles. Volunteers will also receive a participant t-shirt, and complimentary food and beverages.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your designated time slot to ensure you have enough time to receive detailed instruction from your team lead and can be properly fitted for a life jacket, paddle and boat (if paddling).

Do I get to choose my own boat?

We will do our best to put you in your boat of choice. We do recommend double kayaks or canoes if you are volunteering with friends or family members. Single kayaks and SUPs will be given to those paddling solo.

How will I know where to go?

We have three launch locations for the event: Rowing Dock (on the West side) and Epic SUP and Auditorium Shores. When you initially fill out the volunteer form, you will be prompted to choose a location.

Where should I park?

If your launch location is at Rowing Dock, parking will be best under Mopac bridge. For those launching from Epic SUP or Auditorium Shores, there are several options for public street parking.

Can I bring my own boat and still participate?

Yes, but you must register in advance. Please email info@rowingdock.com to confirm your participation.

Do I pick my t-shirt size in advance?

Nope! We will have a variety of sizes for you to select from on-site when you arrive at your clean up time.

WHAT IS THE RESERVATION POLICY FOR CORPORATE GROUPS?

All corporate reservations are non refundable. Please triple check your headcount prior to booking a reservation.
