Fishing Kayak FAQ
A fishing kayak has a few additional features you won’t find in a standard kayak. From top to bottom they’re made with fishermen in mind. Fishing kayaks feature built-in rod holders, track systems for accessories, recessed tackle box storage and more. Fishing kayaks are also designed to be extremely balanced and stable while you’re reeling in fish on Town Lake Austin.
There are a number of high quality brands, including the Perception Pescador Pro 12 model and the Riptide Waterhawg which we offer here Rowing Dock. They each have an anchor, stadium style seating with upright and recline positions, rod holders, recessed tackle box storage and a center console for rigging fish finder electronics.
We provide the fishing kayak with an adjustable stadium-style seat, paddle, and lifejacket, but you’ll need to bring along your valid Texas Fishing License, your own fishing pole, bait, lures and a cooler. All of our fishing kayaks are designed to work with a variety of rigging systems. We also highly recommend that you bring sunscreen, water and snacks to make your Lady Bird Lake fishing trip more comfortable.
There are a variety of fish in Lady Bird Lake including Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Sunfish, and Common Carp. For more information visit: twpd.texas.gov
