It sure was for one couple, Kirby and Corey, whose October, 2024 wedding at Rowing Dock made headlines, with features in both People Magazine and Green Wedding Shoes.
Kirby and Corey tied the knot on Lady Bird Lake in front of 80 guests who arrived by kayak. Their vows took place on an inflatable platform floating just off the dock.
WHY KIRBY & COREY CHOSE ROWING DOCK
When Kirby and Corey began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted their day to reflect not just their love for each other, but also their love for the outdoors and Austin itself. Lady Bird Lake was where they logged countless miles training for marathons, where they spent weekends paddleboarding with friends, and where they often found themselves slowing down to reconnect amid the rush of city life.

In Kirby’s own words, the dock gave them “a chance to celebrate our relationship in the place where we fell in love with both Austin and each other.”
Instead of rows of chairs, kayaks filled with smiling faces. And instead of a traditional procession, Kirby paddled in with her parents and their beloved dog, PJ.
