KICK OFF EARTH DAY WEEKEND WITH US!

Join us on Friday, April 19 for our third annual community wide Earth Day lake and land clean up along Lady Bird Lake! Volunteers will have the option to launch from one of three locations: Rowing Dock (West end), Epic SUP (East end), and on the trail at Festival Beach. From there, you'll select whether you would like to pick up trash by boat or by walking trails along the river.

This event is free for all community volunteers, with advance registration required. To allow all community members to participate, there will be a small donation fee required for corporate teams with 10+ individuals. All funds raised from this event will go to the Trail Conservancy, a 501c3 organization.

Determine your group size — the more, the merrier!

Choose a two-hour time slot: 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm

Provide the contact information of your trash captain (A.K.A. Party Leader)

Choose how you'd like to clean up this Earth Day — paddling via boat or on-foot!

The average Texan produces 1,788 pounds of trash a year (4.9 lbs/day)

Austin has been the nation's fastest growing metro area for the past decade + has seen a significant increase in tourism

As more people flock to enjoy our outdoor spaces throughout the city, public trash can overflow & litter inevitably increases

Rain and wind often carries litter into storm drains, streams, canals, and rivers

With 60% of water pollution attributed to litter, these factors all contribute to the health of Austin's rivers and lakes

Doing your part matters

Being able to live and work in Austin - a place known for its lush green spaces and natural get-aways like Lady Bird Lake - is pretty darn amazing. Plus, as locals that reside in this magical place, we are lucky to benefit from its incredible growth. But - we also know we can't take this beautiful place for granted. It's time to join the clean-up club, y'all.

Corporate Volunteer Groups

Event FAQ

Is there an age minimum for this event?

We recommend younger children are accompanied by their parent/legal guardian. Children under the age of 18 will have to have their parent or legal guardian sign their waiver. This event is for children 6 years and up.

What will be provided to volunteers?

All volunteers will be provided with all the supplies required to clean up (trash bags, grabbers, gloves). For volunteers that are paddling, you will be provided with a kayak, SUP, or canoe, in addition to a life jacket and paddles. Volunteers will also receive an event goodie bag, which will include a participant t-shirt, and several other fun goodies!

When should I arrive?

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your designated time slot to ensure you have enough time to receive detailed instruction from your team lead and can be properly fitted for a life jacket, paddle and boat (if paddling).

Do I get to choose my own boat?

We will do our best to put you in your boat of choice. We do recommend double kayaks or canoes if you are volunteering with friends or family members. Single kayaks and SUPs will be given to those paddling solo.

How will I know where to go?

We have three launch locations for the event: Rowing Dock (on the West side) and Epic SUP and Festival Beach (on the East side). When you initially fill out the volunteer form, you will be prompted to choose a location.

Where should I park?

If your launch location is at Rowing Dock, parking will be best under Mopac bridge. For those launching from Epic SUP or Festival Beach, there are several options for public street parking.

Can I bring my own boat and still participate?

Yes, but you must register in advance. Please email info@rowingdock.com to confirm your participation.
